Over the past year, the Pina Bausch Foundation has called for dancers and Pina Bausch fans worldwide to record and share their interpretations of the Nelken-Line. The line comprises a section from Bausch’s 1982 piece Nelken (“carnations” in English) in which dancers walked single-file across the stage through hundreds of pink carnations performing a series of gestures that depict the four seasons. All contributions will go into an archive managed by the foundation, evidence of Bausch’s legacy.
The spring 2018 Dance History class learned, performed, and submitted our Nelken-Line in May, sharing a bit of Sam Houston State with the world.
